Amy sprawled on the couch when the papers hit. Lawsuit. No warning. She didn’t think, just drove straight to Carmichael’s place and burst through the door. He stood there, all money and entitlement, smirking like he already owned the room. Turns out he sued her for rejecting him at his own party. Publicly. His precious reputation, the one that says he always gets what he wants, took a hit. Amy’s voice cracked with rage but Carmichael only looked smugger, like her fury fed him. She burned hot, words sharp, then caught herself. Asked flat out what it would cost to kill the suit. His answer slid out oily and certain: spread her legs and the papers vanish. Just like that.
