Amanda, also known as Kenna James, pays a visit to an old acquaintance, Lance, now a prosperous entrepreneur. Despite their distant connection, the duo occasionally reunites to celebrate their shared birthday with some dessert. Today marks their thirtieth birthday, and Lance brings up a long-forgotten pledge Amanda supposedly made. Initially baffled, Amanda recollects the commitment she made a decade ago when Lance professed his love for her. Although Amanda rejected him, she allegedly agreed that if they were both unattached at thirty, they would wed each other. Amanda is taken aback by the revelation but insists she only made the promise to let him down gently. Lance becomes incensed and inadvertently discloses that he orchestrated her singledom at thirty.
